Horticulture, Vegetable Farming, and Mixed Cropping Should be Used by Farmers
Uttar Pradesh’s CM, Yogi Adityanath, stated that farmers should be taught the mantra of “natural farming with technology” and that “technology-based agriculture with modern techniques” is the urgent need. He focused on self-reliance while addressing the ‘Review Conference for Rabi Productivity’ of four areas: Gorakhpur, Basti, Azamgarh & Devipatan. To enhance agricultural yield and to gain more benefit cow based natural farming & using technologies is important.
The farmers should shift towards horticulture, vegetable farming and mixed cropping to suit present market demand and compatibility of the agro-climatic zone.
Uttar Pradesh contributes 20 per cent to the India’s food grain production. The state also holds most fertile land and good water resources. By using good quality seeds and technology the productivity can increase up to three times. In terms of wheat production UP is on the top of the list.
Through the provision of seeds and water on time, and through Krishi Vigyan Kendras in every district the government is ensuring farmers’ welfare. Crop insurance scheme has also been implemented for the farmers. The government operated all the sugar mills and payment of over Rs 1.80 lakh crore was made to the sugarcane farmers.
In nine districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh, the Saryu canal project has ensured that additional land will be irrigated. Under the PM Kusum Yojana, solar pumps are being installed to expand irrigation and to implement the scheme of tube wells on a large scale in each district.
