Farmers in Aurangabad plant Allahabadi guava for quick profits
Aurangabad: The rainy season is about to end, and farmers in the Madanpur and Dev Block of Aurangabad district are eyeing the farming of Allahabadi guava, known for yielding fruit within 12 to 15 months. This quick-giving fruit is gradually gaining popularity owing to its high demand in the region. Forest department officer Ramdayal Yadav said the cultivation of Allahabadi guava has been increasing in Aurangabad, enticing several farmers eager to plant this variety and earn a lot of money.
In Madanpur, around 1400 guava trees have planted across approximately 27 acres by enthusiastic farmers such as Rajendra Bhuinya, Rajdev Yadav, and Sohrai Bhuinya. Despite the barren nature of their land and the lack of irrigation systems, these farmers have worked tirelessly, digging pits to retain water and nurture their guava plants. Their hard work is paying off, as guava farming is now considered “like growing gold on barren land.”

Rajendra Bhuinya, a farmer from Aranda Rampur in Dev Block, shared that they are growing 50 to 60 guava plants per acre, with profits reaching up to 1 lakh rupees annually. The guavas from this region are not only sold locally but are also transported to other districts, further boosting the income of farmers.
Ramdayal Yadav went on to say that this variety of guava is suitable for the local weather, and it can grow in quick time and pay dividends in a short period. He also emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to promote horticulture, encouraging farmers to engage in guava farming as it provides employment opportunities and contributes to the region’s economy as well.
