Gopal Rai demands artificial rain to mitigate air pollution in Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai once again appealed to the Union Environment Ministry for an emergency meeting to discuss the use of artificial rain in Delhi to mitigate rising air pollution levels. He had earlier written a letter on this issue, but in spite of his request, he has not received any response from the central government yet.

Talking in a press conference on Wednesday, Rai went on to say that the Diwali festival is not far away, and it is likely to fall in November. Besides this, stubble burning is another serious issue, and it also raises air pollution. In this situation, Delhi changes into a gas chamber. To overcome such issues, the Delhi government has been emphasizing artificial rain for the alleviation of pollution during this period when air quality becomes very poor.

“There is a need to take strict action immediately, Raid said. I will once again request the Union Minister to arrange an emergency meeting so we can take some steps to overcome this grim issue,” Rai stated. He further added that the Delhi government has already announced its 21-point winter action plan to reduce air pollution in the city.

The government has introduced Harit Ratan awards for such companies that will try their best in the reduction of pollution. The minister hopes that these initiatives will help in the betterment of air quality in the capital.
