Currently, priority is given to candidates with BSc and MSc degrees in agriculture and horticulture for jobs in industries related to these fields. By introducing diploma courses in ITIs, the government hopes to open up additional opportunities for students interested in these sectors who may not have pursued higher education degrees.

The curriculum for the new courses is being developed, and the department is actively working on it. Dharmani said that he recently visited Karnataka, where he minutely saw several horticulture schemes. A team of officials also went with him. They have been asked to prepare a proposal within a week, based on their observations. After that, it will be sent to the table of the Chief Minister for the implementation of Karnataka’s scheme in Himachal Pradesh.

This initiative is part of the state government’s broader effort to increase skill among youths and create employment opportunities in agriculture and horticulture sectors.
