White fungus damages home gardens

New Delhi: Kitchen gardening has been getting popularity across the country. Several people use every vacant place as their home gardens, especially in urban areas. Therefore, balconies, roof-top gardening, and stairs are being used in growing vegetables like tomatoes, coriander, chilies, and spinach in pots because these can be grown easily. Sometimes people don’t get a good harvest due to lack of proper knowledge. White fungus is a common disease that appears in plants; it ruins plants.

Here are some of the simple solutions to overcome fungus problems. Mix one tablespoon of neem oil in one liter of water and spray it on the plants to remove the fungus. The other solution is to mix two teaspoons of baking soda and half a teaspoon of liquid soap in two liters of water. Spray this solution on the plants to get rid of the fungus.

Turmeric proves effective in controlling plant fungus as well. It has medicinal properties. Mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder in two liters of water and spray it on the plants to remove fungus. Several other solutions effectively remove the fungus from the plants, such as mixing vinegar with two liters of water and spraying it on the plants to fight the fungus. Cinnamon powder can also be used by mixing it in the soil or soaking it in water for 48 hours and spraying it on the plants.

Fungus on plants appear due to overwatering, so it is essential to water plants as per their needs; checking moisture around the pot is essential. During the purchase of new saplings, make sure they don’t have fungus.
