Punjab Minister reviews schemes to boost horticulture
Chandigarh: The Punjab government has decided to leave no stone unturned to make the state a horticulture hub. In this regard, Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat recently conducted a review meeting with senior officials about the implementation of the government’s schemes by the Horticulture Department. He stressed that the farmers must get maximum benefit through the horticulture cultivation.
During the marathon meeting, a detailed discussion took place on potato seeds with the officials. On this occasion, several plans were finalized for the promotion of potato farming along with vegetables in the state. Besides this, discussion was held regarding the new projects of the central government in the horticulture sector. Emphasis was given to make the institutions strong, which come under the horticulture sector.

The Minister said that CM Mann has been trying his best to make the state’s farmers more prosperous and make them economically potent as well. He went on to say that all efforts are being made to inspire farmers to shift from traditional farming to horticulture.
Mohinder Bhagat further added that the aim of the state government is to make Punjab a hub for potato seed production. He urged the department’s official to ensure that the ongoing schemes for the welfare of the farmers should reach them without any delay so that they can avail benefits.
He said that under the state government, the overall position of farmers will be improved. In the end, he assured that the state government is ready to provide all supports to farmers for enhancing their income.
