Create eye-catching Rangoli with fresh flowers

New Delhi: Diwali is around the corner; it is a tradition to create Rangoli duirng, the festival of lights, which brightens up homes and offices with its flamboyant designs. In fact, Rangoli is often made with dry-coloured powders, but now that things have changed, many people prefer fresh flower petals and leaves, giving unbelievable fragrance and eye-catching texture.

To design a Rangoli with flowers, you have to sketch a base design on paper. This will help you visualize your Rangoli better. Choose a colour scheme to narrow down your flower options. You can also add a diya (oil lamp) at the center of your Rangoli for an extra festive touch. Decide whether you want a circular or geometric pattern, which will help you choose household items to use as stencils. For example, use a plate to outline your design, ensuring the flowers stay within the borders.

Several colourful flowers are being frequently used in making Rangoli, such as yellow marigolds, orange marigolds, roses, and white jasmine. Create two groups of flowers: one with whole flowers, mainly marigolds, and another with torn petals. Whole marigolds make a sturdy border for your Rangoli, while the torn petals fill in the shapes. If you prefer a softer look, you can use only petals.

The addition of flower leaves can make your Rangoli even more vibrant. For extra texture, sprinkle some dry colour powder in certain areas. Make flower Rangoli in this Diwali and bring happiness and celebrate with gaiety.
