69% of families suffering from pollution-related diseases in Delhi: Survey

New Delhi: The air quality of Delhi-NCR has been deteriorating; the latest survey made it clear that around 69 percent of families are suffering from air pollution-related diseases such as sore throat, cough, fever, and respiratory issues. AQI of several areas of the national capital touched 999, which is absolutely severe.

As per a survey, 21,000 residents of Delhi are poorly affected by air pollution; some of the ailments have increased in recent time, such as eye burning, runny nose, and congestion due to poor air quality. Besides this, asthma, headaches, anxiety, trouble in concentration, and so on are increasing with the passing days.

Currently, the AQI of Delhi is standing in the 300-500 range, and it is expected to increase in the coming week. Out of 10,630 respondents, 15 percent have been planning to shift to some other parts of the country or return to their native place unless the pollution levels become normal. Meanwhile, 9 percent intend to stay indoors; they have changed their food habits to boost immunity, while another 23 percent plan is set to use air purifiers along with several indoor measures.

The survey response was mixed as far as managing the pollution crisis in the city. About 15 percent are doing their routine work, wearing masks while going outside their homes, and 15 percent have decided to take immunity-boosting food.

Overall, the pollution levels in the national capital have made life difficult for the people. Diwali is over, the weather is clear, the sun is shining, and the Delhi government has been working round the clock to decrease the pollution levels. But the situation is severe; it needs to be taken seriously.
