Bihar’s vegetables scheme boosts horticulture with huge subsidies
Patna: The Bihar government has left no stone unturned to attract farmers to venture into the horticulture sector and increase their income. Therefore, the Nitish government recently launched a new scheme known as the “Vegetable Development Scheme” (Sabji Vikas Yojana) to strengthen the farmers’ economic condition. As per the Bihar Agricultural Department, farmers of the state will get huge subsidies for the production of specific vegetable varieties.
The scheme is likely to change the overall condition of the small and economically weak farmers of Bihar; the state government has already announced to provide 75 percent subsidy to the farmers for the cultivation of several vegetables such as broccoli, capsicum, tomatoes, cauliflower, cabbage (for the Rabi season), eggplant, watermelon, and muskmelon (for the summer season). Besides this, the government is all set to give subsidies for the hybrid seeds of pumpkin, sponge gourd, bitter gourd, okra, chili (summer season), and onion seeds (Rabi season).

Those farmers who want to avail of these benefits can visit the official Bihar Agriculture Department website. They need to click on the Vegetable Development Scheme link and fill out the form; after that, click on the submission. This way, their forms will be submitted with all necessary information.
