‘Waste-to-Art’ Park, a Creative Way to Welcome G20 Member Countries

New Delhi: G20 themed waste-to-art park at Kautilya Marg, Chanakyapuri got formally inaugurated by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Monday. The park covers the area of 0.25 acres and is has a huge colorful fountain installed in the middle of the park to make it more attractive. The park is now open for common people with free entry.

The park showcases the sculptures depicting birds and animals from G20 countries recognizing their participation in the summit of the bloc in Delhi on September 9-10.

These sculptures includes Indian Peacock, American Bison, Red-Crowned Crane from China, Saudi Arabian Camel and many more. They are made from scrap metal recovered from construction sites and automobile waste dumps.

The sculptures are installed in collaboration with the Lalit Kala Academy and are total 22 in numbers. These creative and beautiful sculptures have been made by national-level artists. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said that the efforts have been made by the NDMC to make Delhi “shine” and this beautiful park is the result of the same.

This park also carries forward the initiative of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3Rs) under Swachh Survekshan 2023. Handcrafting artistic objects from waste materials such as iron bars, automobile parts, metal plates, wire-mesh, rims, chains and other junk material is the testimony of the fact how waste can be turned into artistic objects.
