Crime under green: Police bust cannabis nursery in Greater Noida
Noida: In a bizarre incident, cops raided a flat in Greater Noida where they saw a nursery, but it was not of flowers or vegetables, surprising to see indoor cannabis plants in full bloom. Policemen revealed that it was planted like a professional gardener. As per the police, these banned plants were being used for illegal purposes. Remember, cannabis is used in the making of drugs, and its farming is banned.
The police raided after getting the tip off about drug activity, arresting a person named Rahul Choudhary. According to the police, he was farming and selling cannabis through the dark web. The police further added that the setup of the flat was sophisticated. Everything in it was fully furnished. The crime was being done in a planned manner; even the Bollywood directors would be proud of making such a film in this situation.

The raid took place when police got information that Choudhary was about to deliver a cannabis consignment. DCP Saad Miya Khan said, “We initially thought he was simply involved in dealings. It was only after questioning that he revealed he cultivated cannabis in his flat.” Police then launched a full raid on the apartment, discovering approximately 80 cannabis plants valued between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 60 lakh, confiscating alongside ganja, OG (a high-grade cannabis strain), chemicals, fertilizers, and a variety of specialized cultivation equipment.
Choudhary’s commenced cannabis farming during the Covid-19 pandemic when his restaurant was forced to close in Greater Noida. Police said he obtained seeds online from a foreign supplier; payments were being done through PayPal. The total cost in the harvesting of a single plant ranged from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000, while online buyers have to pay between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 per plant.
Choudhary has been charged under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Further interrogation is in progress.
