GRAP 4 imposes in Delhi, schools shift to online mode

New Delhi: Smog has blanketed Delhi, NCR. There is no respite for Delhiites from severe pollution. The air quality crossed over 500 in several areas of the national capital on Monday morning, making it ‘a ‘severe-plus ‘category. AQI of numerous areas of the city recorded this morning were 919 in Mundka, 762 in ITI Jahangirpuri, and 624 in Anand Vihar. In fact, currently, Delhi has turned into a gas chamber.

Office goers have to cope with the situation; coughing, sneezing, lung issues, and respiratory diseases have increased in the city. The rush of patients has increased due to surging pollution levels. Senior citizens and children are affected most. Many patients have been admitted to the hospitals amid deteriorating conditions. As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), a “severe” AQI poses many health issues and severely impacts those with pre-existing health conditions.

The visibility became poor. Commuters have been facing all the difficulties during their movement. Driving has become an uphill task in this poor visibility. In this situation, many trains and planes are running late or cancelled. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has advised passengers to contact their respective airlines before starting their journey. Fog has covered the city, affecting traffic movement.

Meanwhile, GRAP 4 has been imposed in the city, aiming to improve the air quality situation. Chief Minister Atishi announced on X (formerly Twitter) that from Monday, all schools will shift to online classes, except for students in classes 10 and 12. “With the imposition of GRAP-4, physical classes will remain suspended until further notice,” she stated.
