In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the roots of this plant are commonly used for many purposes. The plant is beneficial in reducing swelling. It plays a significant role in preventing blood clotting, killing cancer cells, and acting as an antioxidant. There are two types of peony roots: one is red, and the other is white. This refers to the color of the processed root, not the color of the flowers.
