Farmers from Jamshedpur attend training at horticulture center in Noida
Jamshedpur: 50 farmers from Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) have been sent to the Institute of Horticulture Technology (IHT), Greater Noida, on a five-day training programme regarding the modern farming technique in horticulture. This initiative is a significant step to train farmers with advanced techniques to enhance production as well as self-reliance. The short-term training session will definitely help the farming community to adopt the modern equipment at their respective destinations.
The training program was officially flagged off from the Collectorate by District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, and Project Director ITDA Deepankar Chaudhary. Farmers traveled by bus to the railway station and continued their journey to Greater Noida by train. District Horticulture Officer Anima Lakra and District Agriculture Officer also encouraged the farmers during the send-off ceremony.

At IHT, the farmers will undergo hands-on training in cutting-edge horticultural practices, learning modern techniques for growing crops in controlled environments. They will also know about efficient water management and climate-controlled farming methods. Additionally, they will also get the knowledge of soil fertility for sustainable farming. These will help farmers in enhancing the production of vegetable, flower and fruit farming through advanced methods.
Speaking to the farmers before their departure, Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal emphasized the importance of adopting scientific methods. “This exposure visit is a great opportunity for you to learn new techniques that can increase agricultural output and open up additional livelihood opportunities. By implementing these methods, you can become more self-reliant and improve your economic conditions,” he said.
The initiative shows the effort of district administration in empowering farmers through education and modern technology.
