NDMC hosts stunning All India Winter Rose Show

New Delhi: The All India Winter Rose Show, organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in collaboration with the Rose Society of India, concluded successfully at the India-Africa Friendship Rose Garden in Chanakyapuri on Sunday. The two-day event, inaugurated by NDMC Vice-Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, showcased over 1,400 beautiful rose exhibits.

The show featured 92 varieties of roses across 198 sections and 22 categories, with vibrant displays of roses in pink, red, yellow, orange, green, and even black. Special attractions included greenhouse-grown and soil-less roses. Participants included over 200 exhibitors from across the country, including organizations like TERI, CPWD, HUDDA, and IARI PUSA.

NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra awarded prizes to winners in 22 categories. He commended the efforts of participants and organizers, saying the event brought beauty and inspiration to the heart of Delhi. Vice-Chairman Chahal highlighted the importance of such initiatives in creating a greener and more beautiful city, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

Chahal also reflected on the symbolism of the rose, saying, “Roses bloom amidst thorns, teaching us resilience and the value of life’s beauty.”

The event also hosted an on-the-spot painting competition for over 50 students from NDMC and Navyug schools. Winners received certificates and trophies.

The rose show highlighted not only the aesthetic appeal of roses but also their many benefits. Roses are used in skincare, perfumes, and Ayurveda. Rose petals can be preserved as gulkand (a natural tonic) or dried as pankhuri for drinks and desserts. Rose hips are rich in Vitamin C, while the petals’ structure can be used in electronic devices for light-harvesting.

This event celebrated the versatility and importance of roses while inspiring visitors to embrace greenery and beauty in their lives.
