Jamshedpur welcomes two new attractions, ‘Rose Garden’ and ‘Butterfly Park’
Jamshedpur: This winter, Jamshedpur, added two new attractions for nature lovers: a Butterfly Park at Tata Steel Zoological Park and a Rose Garden in Northern Town. The facilities were inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, along with Rituraj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL, and Ruchi Narendran.
The Rose Garden, located near Sacred Heart Convent School, covers 6,000 square meters and is home to over 1,500 rose plants. Visitors can enjoy five types of roses: Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, Grandiflora, Miniature, and Polyantha. This new garden replaces the old rose garden in Jubilee Park, which was turned into a steel installation two years ago. The garden was developed with support from Tata Steel UISL and Tata Steel Ltd. It adds to the city’s natural beauty and coincides with the 41st All India Rose Convention and the 34th annual flower show.

The Butterfly Park, built at a cost of Rs 1.6 crore over eight months, focuses on butterfly breeding, education, and display. It currently hosts 41 butterfly species like the plain tiger, common crow, and lime butterfly. The park also features diverse plants and animals that support these species.
Zoo Deputy Director Naeem Akhtar shared, “Butterflies are essential for the ecosystem. They help in pollination, act as food for other animals, and indicate environmental health. This park will also be a valuable resource for students to learn about the environment.”
