Chennai’s Semmozhi Poonga to host second annual flower show

Chennai: Chennai’s popular botanical garden, Semmozhi Poonga, is all set to host its second annual flower show from January 2 to January 18, 2025. The event is expected to be inaugurated by a prominent state leader and will welcome visitors daily from 10 am to 7 pm.

The highlight of the show will be a stunning display of over 30 lakh flowering plants, including varieties like petunias, marigolds, delphiniums, and roses. These plants have been sourced from renowned horticulture gardens in Ooty, Kodaikanal, Krishnagiri, and Hosur. Visitors can admire the plants arranged in creative structures such as a clock, train, heritage car, butterfly, and more, lining the pathways of the park.

Unlike traditional cut flower exhibitions, this show will feature live plants grown using organic methods. Special care has been taken to ensure their safe transport and arrangement in shaded areas of the garden, timed to bloom perfectly in January.

The exhibition will showcase over 50 flower varieties, offering a treat for nature lovers. Tickets can be purchased online or directly at the venue.

The flower show is about to begin, so the final preparations have been taking place on a war footing. Therefore, Semmozhi Poonga is temporarily closed to the public. With its vibrant floral displays and artistic arrangements, this year’s flower show promises to be a visual feast for all visitors. It is a great chance for the visitor to enjoy and see the varieties of flowers.
