Mandya to host five-day flower show from January 24

Mandya: A five-day flower show near the Deputy Commissioner’s office is set to be organized from January 24. The vibrant floral exhibition will be organized by the Mandya district administration in collaboration with the horticulture department. People, especially the nature lovers, will get a chance to witness more than 45 varieties of flowers, including some of the rare species, sourced from Pune, Bangalore, and Ooty. District in-charge minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy will inaugurate the upcoming flower show.

KN Roopashree, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, shared that this year’s theme is dedicated to farmers. “Students form a major part of our audience, so we chose this theme to raise awareness about agriculture. Farmers are the backbone of our country, and this flower show highlights their struggles and contributions,” she said.

The flourishing event will be displayed over 13 acres, and visitors will have the opportunity to see some of the eye-catching species like petunia, salvia, celosia, marigold, rose, poinsettia, carnation, lilies, bird of paradise, and gerbera. Roopashree went on to say that in last year’s show, overall, 30 varieties of flowers were brought; we have decided to expand the collection this year to attract more and more visitors.

Besides floral displays, several kinds of fruits and vegetables are expected to be showcased in the event to make it a horticultural event as well. This decision of the organization will promote horticulture crops as well as bring awareness among the common people in the region. The show is expected to entice a huge number of visitors from all walks of life.
