Mumbai’s 28th annual Horticulture Expo gets underway

Mumbai: The three-day annual Horticulture Expo was inaugurated by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani on Friday at Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Garden and Zoo in Mumbai. The focus of this year’s vibrant show is to highlight the significance of the national symbol of India made from flowers. Gagrani has appealed to Mumbai residents to see the festival and enjoy the floral diversity. The event will remain open from 8 am to 8 pm till February 2.

After the inauguration, top brass of the civic body, along with Mumbaikars, went on to explore the exhibition and stalls as well. The civic commissioner appreciated the decoration of the festival, excited to see the national emblem of the country made from leaves and flowers. Visitors thronged to see the tricolour made of marigold and teak flowers. Mangoes, the national fruit of the country, are also made from marigold flowers.

Besides this, the national aquatic animal, the Ganges Dolphin, is decorated with teak flowers of white and pink hues. Other national emblems are also ornamented with different floral designs. Not to talk of floral exhibitions, visitors have an opportunity to purchase native and foreign plants at the event. Several stalls have been busy selling agricultural materials, pesticides, sprayers, and tools.

A huge number of crowd swarmed to witness the eye-catching floral exhibition, most of them were praising the floral presentation of national emblems. People are coming to the event with their families to see sparkling flowers and spend some crucial time in natural beauty.
