Residents complain about neglected parks amid flower show
Noida: Greater Noida’s three-day flower show got underway on February 28 and will continue till March 2. Despite hosting a vibrant flower show, local residents are totally dissatisfied with the poor conditions of the parks. They claim that authorities don’t take any interest in their maintenance, ruining the city’s beauty. Residents have highlighted numerous issues, such as broken boundary walls, a dearth of irrigation arrangements, and poor infrastructure.
One of the residents, Surinder Kumar Saini, said that “I have been living in Sector Beta 1 since 2002, and I have never seen the parks in such a bad state.” He pointed out that essential maintenance work, such as repairing entrances, cutting grass, fixing swings and benches, and clearing garbage, has not been done for months.

Saini added that officials from the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) have informed him that the tender renewal for maintenance is due from mid-2024. However, he questions the delay. “For the last six months, the tender has been pending, and contractors say their contracts have ended,” he said. He has also written to Ram Kumar, the gardening in-charge of GNIDA, seeking action.
Another resident, Harinder Bhati, stated that parks in B Block and other sectors like Alpha, Gamma, and Delta are also facing similar neglect. “Winter plants and flowers were not planted this season. There is no sanitation, and garbage remains unclear, making the parks unusable,” he said. Bhati has also reached out to GNIDA officials regarding the issue.
Locals are surprised that the authorities are hosting a grand flower show in the city park; meanwhile, the residential area’s parks are in shabby conditions. A response from the civic bodies is still awaited.
