Punjab Minister reviews progress of key horticulture projects
Chandigarh: Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat held a review meeting with the top officials in Chandigarh on Monday to evaluate the progress of several ongoing projects under the Horticulture Department. The minister, during the meeting, emphasized the significance of the transparency of work and timely distribution of subsidies to farmers. He assessed major departmental matters, including budget allocations, employee concerns, and the promotion and appointment of officials.
Horticulture Director Mrs. Shailender Kaur provided an update on the department’s achievements and ongoing schemes. She highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen the horticulture sector and support farmers with better resources and schemes.

Minister Bhagat asked the officials to increase the awareness campaigns about the horticulture crops and their benefits to farmers in boosting their income. He further added that farmers should have the perfect knowledge regarding the government’s ongoing programmes that benefit farmers. He ordered the officials to fill the vacant post and accelerate the pending promotions for the betterment of the department’s efficiency.
He went on to say that the Mann government has left no stone unturned for the boosting of the horticulture sector in the state. Emphasis has been given to creating better opportunities for farmers, increasing productivity, and boosting farmers’ income as well.
The meeting ended on a strong note, focusing on improving departmental efficiency so that farmers can get timely support. The minister assured that the state government is set to take all important steps in the promotion of horticulture in Punjab.
