Vasantotsav concludes in Dehradun; IIT Roorkee bags 10 awards

Dehradun: The three-day Vasantotsav 2025 concluded today (Wednesday) at Raj Bhavan, Dehradun. During the festival, lakhs of visitors enjoyed the beauty and witnessed varieties of flowers and plants in one place. On the last day of the event, awards were given to the winners. This year IIT Roorkee received awards in 10 categories, while Uttarakhand Sainik Rehabilitation Institute and Patharchatta bagged three categories. Overall, 165 prizes were distributed in different categories.

Governor Lt. General Gurmit Singh (Retd) handed the prize to the winners. He said that the huge public participation was a positive step, making it truly a people’s festival. He further added that technology and new innovation have played a key role in boosting the popularity of the exhibition. This year a total of 2.7 lakh people visited the event. He acknowledged the Horticulture Department, Culture Department, and other supporting organizations for their efforts in successfully organizing the festival.

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi praised the remarkable participation in Vasantotsav 2025 and credited the Governor’s inspiration for making the festival a grand success. He also shared insights into various government schemes related to agriculture.

On the concluding day of the event, several dignitaries, such as First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, CM’s wife Geeta Dhami, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, SN Pandey, Additional Secretary to the Governor Swati S Bhadauria, Director, Horticulture, Deepti Singh, Additional Director Dr Ratan Kumar and several other prominent personalities were present on the occasion.
