Delhi’s air quality worsens; govt intensifies efforts to improve it

New Delhi: Delhi’s air quality once again deteriorated after remaining in the ‘satisfactory’ range for a couple of days. The AQI of the national capital on Tuesday reached into the ‘moderate’ stage, recorded 130 at 8 am on March 18, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The air quality of Delhi NCR always fluctuates; it never remains stationary.

The Delhi government has increased its efforts for the improvement of the air quality of the city. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that focus will be given on traffic management, reduction in dust, and making public transport smoother. She further added that “making Delhi pollution-free is our top priority,” stressing that scientific and sustainable solutions are the need of the time to provide a clean, healthy, eco-friendly atmosphere for Delhi residents.

As per the plan, sweeping and water sprinkling will take place on the Ring Road in a mechanized way for overcoming the issue of dust. Besides this, anti-smog guns will be installed on the 156 high-rise buildings to curb pollution. The devices will sprinkle water droplets into the air so that dust can be settled easily, helping in the reduction of the city’s pollution levels.

The Delhi government doesn’t like to leave any stone unturned to create a cleaner atmosphere in the national capital, providing better air quality so that residents can breathe easily. Experts believe that despite the efforts by the government, citizens will have to come forward and need to take part actively to curb pollution levels and improve air quality in Delhi.
