CM Abdullah inaugurates Kashmir’s iconic tulip garden
Kashmir: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday inaugurated the iconic tulip garden in Srinagar for tourists, where people can enjoy over 1.75 million tulips of above 74 different varieties. Several flowers are in full bloom, creating a remarkable beauty in the surroundings, enticing visitors from the country and abroad. In spite of a light shower, tourists’ enthusiasm is touching the sky, enjoying unbelievable scenery and terraced gardens.
The tulip garden is situated at the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range, overlooking the Dal Lake. The garden was set up in 2006. It opens to the public for only four weeks every year because the blooming period of tulips is short.

Omar Abdullah took photographs and interacted with visitors. Sharing his experience on social media platform X, he wrote, “After more than a decade, I was back at the Tulip Garden in Srinagar to officially open it for visitors.” He was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Javaid Ahmad Dar, who expressed hope for a thriving tourist season.
Apart from tulips, the garden is blooming with several other flowers such as daffodils, hyacinths, roses, and irises. The scene is so beautiful that it can’t be described in words. Last year, more than 4.65 lakh visitors witnessed the garden, and officials are hoping that this year the number will cross five lakh.
