Honouring Ms. Saalumarda Thimmakka: An Environmental Icon

Age is just a number
This has been proven right by our country’s Environmental Icon & a Padmashri Awardee (2019) Ms. Saalumarda Thimmakka who hails from Karnataka is 111years old. She is passionate about the environment and is called Mother of Trees. She has been awarded more than 60 awards for her exemplary works of planting trees and tending them. She has planted 385 banyan trees along a 45 km stretch b/w Hulikal & Kudur with the support of her husband.
Some days are more special filled with special people. INA feels proud by honouring her for her tireless, selfless and continuous efforts toward the environment.
Proud to say that she is unstoppable even at the age of 111! It was INA’s immense pleasure to make a small contribution of ₹1,11,000. With her blessings to the entire INA Team, we plan to keep her environment preservation dream alive. 🌿
She has been an inspiration to scores of environmentalists, civic bodies, organizations and governments across the globe. 🌳🙏🌳
