Roses in Demand, Saraswati Puja and Valentine’s Day Drive Prices Up

Delhi: As Saraswati Puja and Valentine’s Day align on the calendar, the demand for roses surges, leading to a notable increase in prices across the city. Both occasions, celebrated with fervor, have created a unique scenario where floral vendors are witnessing unprecedented demand for roses, a symbol of love and devotion.

From roses to sunflower to marigolds, there has been a jump a jump of at least 15% in the price of the flower. Red rose are already selling for around rs.35 and expected to touch rs.45 to rs.50. A tube of sunflower is selling for over rs.150

Traditionally, Saraswati Puja, dedicated to the goddess of knowledge and arts, involves offering flowers, particularly yellow and white blooms, at puja pandals and homes. The confluence of these two celebrations has created a surge in demand, resulting in a spike in the cost of roses. Florists and vendors are struggling to keep up with the sudden rush, with some reporting shortages due to the overwhelming demand.
