Three days ‘Vasantotsava’ organized at Raj Bhavan in, Dehradun
New Delhi: The Raj Bhavan in Dehradun is blooming with vibrant colors and fragrant flowers as it plays host to the annual ‘Vasantotsava’ or we can say Spring Festival. The event has been organized by the Horticulture Department of Uttarakhand. It Is three day event, it has started from 1st of March 2024 and it will end on 3rd of March 2024. Aims to showcase the rich floral diversity of the region and promote horticulture as a means of sustainable livelihood.
The festival, which kicked off on March 1st, features a stunning display of flowers, including roses, orchids, lilies, and marigolds. The highlight of the event is the flower show, where participants from across the state compete in various categories such as flower arrangements, bonsai, and potted plants.
Events like ‘Vasantotsava’ not only promote the beauty of flowers but also raise awareness about the importance of horticulture in our lives.
The festival also includes workshops and seminars on topics such as organic gardening, flower cultivation, and the use of flowers in traditional medicine. Visitors can also enjoy cultural performances, food stalls, and a photography exhibition showcasing the flora of Uttarakhand.
One of the main attractions of this year’s ‘Vasantotsava’ is a special exhibit on the Karsog horticulture project, which aims to promote sustainable farming practices in the region. The project, which has been hailed as a model for other states to follow, focuses on organic farming, water conservation, and the use of native plant species.
