New Delhi: Renowned horticulturist and Padma Shri awardee, Haji Kalimullah Khan, known as the ‘Mango Man’ for his extraordinary skills in cultivating unique varieties of mangoes, has once again amazed the world with his latest achievement. Khan has successfully grown a tree bearing multiple varieties of fruits a phenomenon that has left scientists and experts in wonder.
There is the only tree in the world on which more than 300 varieties of mangoes grow. Their colour, shape, size and taste are completely different from each other. Haji Kalim Ullah Khan, a resident of Malihabad, who is 84 years old, is the father of this tree. Now he has once again done wonders. Actually, he had planted a new mango breed in 2023, which has now become a tree and has very big leaves.
Located in the mango belt of Malihabad, Uttar Pradesh, Khan’s orchard has become a hub of curiosity and admiration for agricultural enthusiasts and researchers alike. The tree which Khan calls his “Master piece,” is a hybrid of several fruit varieties, including mango, guava, papaya, and citrus fruits, all growing on a single plant.
Khan’s innovative approach to horticulture has not only attracted attention for its novelty but also for its potential implications in agricultural practices. His tree which bears fruits of different varieties could revolutionize fruit cultivation by maximizing limited space and resources.
Speaking about his creation, Khan expressed his gratitude for the recognition and appreciation he has received. He said, “I am delighted to see the response to my creation. It has been a labor of love, and I am glad that it has garnered attention from the scientific community. He told that it will take 3 to 4 years for the mango to become available because its current size will be bigger.
