Officials in Ukraine have advised people in the capital to remain indoors on Friday as air pollution, likely to surge due to fires in the region, blanketed the city. As per the officials, pollution increased due to fires in the kyiv region.

Wildfire smoke is responsible for poor air quality even several miles away from fires; above this fine particle pollution, known as PM2.5, is the matter of great concern. Fine particle pollution creates several health issues, such as coughing and its harmful impact on the lungs and heart.
The concentration of dust and smoke in the air is likely to increase in the coming days, officials said. Air pollution levels have touched 100-point scale, which is alarming.
Officials have urged the residents of Kyiv to remain most of the time indoors, keep their windows close, and don’t go outside except in emergencies. People were asked to drink a lot of water and use an air purifier.
