Aligarh includes in National Horticulture Mission list

Aligarh: There is a great news for Aligarh’s farmers in Uttar Pradesh. They have got an opportunity to boost their income as the district has been included in the Central Government’s National Horticulture Mission. This initiative will provide subsidies to farmers ranging from 35% to 75% to promote the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, spices, flowers, and beekeeping.

Until now, only a few farmers in Aligarh had taken advantage of the National Agricultural Development Scheme, combining horticulture with traditional farming. With the new National Horticulture Mission, more farmers will be encouraged to plant orchards and grow horticultural crops, improving their financial stability.

For farmers with small landholdings, beekeeping and mushroom farming offer profitable alternatives. Additionally, the scheme will support the establishment of small food processing units where farmers can make pickles, jams, murabba, and jelly. Farmers will also receive training to grade and package fruits and vegetables, helping potato farmers increase their income by making chips and other processed products.

Deputy Director of Horticulture Baljeet Singh stated that the Central Government has issued guidelines for the scheme, aiming to boost both income and employment in rural areas. He emphasized that young farmers can easily participate in this initiative without leaving their villages.

With this new initiative of the National Horticulture Mission, farmers in Aligarh have received a gift to make them economically stable with the help of subsidies in agriculture.
