Amitabh’s successful flower farming brings huge profits
Vaishali: The trend of growing cash crops in Bihar has been increasing; farmers of the state are concentrating on the cultivation of different kinds of flowers on a large scale alongside vegetables and fruits to boost their income. Amitabh Singh, also known as Bachchan, a farmer from Patehra village in the Patehdi Belsar block of Vaishali district, has ventured into the floriculture sector successfully and is now earning a substantial income by cultivating marigold flowers.
Amitabh has to face a lot of difficulty in his journey. After failing his 12th exams, financial hardships forced him to drop out of school. He moved to the city to earn but later returned to his native village. One of his friends advises him to start flower farming with just two small plots of land. Amitabh planted marigolds and made a small profit, motivating him to expand his efforts. He took 2.5 acres of land on lease to grow flowers on a large scale.

Amitabh has been cultivating marigold flowers for the last eight years on the leased land, which he says can be harvested twice a year. He purchased seeds from Kolkata, and his father has been helping him in farming. Currently, Amitabh’s flowers are being available in nearby cities such as Muzaffarpur, Patna, and Hajipur.
Marigold farming has now become an attractive choice for farmers due to its high demand and good profits. After covering all expenses, Amitabh earns over 10 lakh rupees each year. His success story has become an inspiration for other farmers across the state.
