AP CM asks banks to make loan process easy for horticulture farmers

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wants to provide loans to horticulture farmers easily, urging public sector banks to arrange loans for them as they do for the traditional agriculture farmers. Speaking at the State-Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting on Monday, he stressed that the food habits of people are gradually changing, so farmers need to move towards organic and modern farming.

Naidu went on to say that the goal of the state is to achieve a 15% growth rate over the next two decades, focusing on the primary sector. He said that banks can play a key role in achieving this target. Farmers need financial aid because they are gradually moving from traditional farming to horticulture crops, he said.

The Chief Minister asked banks to provide loans to farmers without any hassle; they should get it as early as possible. They don’t need to run from pillar to post for it. He encouraged banks to help in the establishment of cold storage so that perishable items like vegetables and fruits could remain fresh for some days. He stressed that the recovery of the loan process must be easy. This way, farmers’ suicide rate could be reduced.

Chandrababu Naidu has taken a stern step to promote horticulture in the state. Usually, farmers fail to get money on time to set up polyhouses and purchase other gadgets for modern farming. Therefore, they fail to get the desired production. But Naidu’s initiative will certainly not only help farmers but also boost yield and their income as well.
