Artificial Intelligence Will Allow Medicinal Plants to be Identified Within Minutes, Health Information Also Available
Now scientists and the general public will have a technology-based on state-of-the-art artificial intelligence that they will be able to identify any medicinal plant in a few moments. Medicinal plants can be identified by photo scanning. During this process, it will also be known immediately that there is no disease in that medicinal plant. This technique has been discovered by Prof. M.K Dutta and the team from the Director of Center for Advanced Studies, Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) to be helpful for experts active in the field of Ayurveda.
Prof. Dutta and his team conducted long research on the identification of medicinal plants. For this, leaves of 12 medicinal plants were provided to the team by Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. Scientists analyzed those medicinal leaves with computer vision and AI, prepared their dataset and scanned them to establish their identity. Along with this, a method based on AI technology has been prepared so that just by scanning the photo, the name of the medicine and its health can be found. By this method, it will be known which plant it is and whether it is affected by any disease or not. The research has been published in the international journal Expert Systems.
Computer vision and deep learning are effective in solving agricultural problems
Prof. MK Dutta says that computer vision and deep learning techniques have proved to be very effective in solving various agricultural problems. Deep learning technology has been used to make this model. Deep learning AI is one of the smart technology, which is capable of deep investigation of data. Deep learning technology has increasingly become an important medium for image classification. It is being rapidly expanded and used in agriculture for plant analysis. This is how technology works.
Through AI-based technology, the photo of many leaves is scanned with the help of a state-of-the-art Graphical Processing Unit (GPU). Under this, with the help of various algorithms, we have been able to accurately identify the leaves. The model has been studied on several parameters so that it can give high-level results. The structure of medicinal leaves is very similar to each other, which becomes quite difficult to distinguish. This new method will make it easier to identify plants.
Scanning can be done on the spot
Till now the identification of medicinal plants used to take a lot of time, now it will be saved. We will be able to work in ready-to-access mode. Medicinal plants found on the garden, forests, mountains etc. can be recognized by scanning them on the spot through the camera in-built machine. Along with this, it will also be known on the spot from the visual indication that the plant is not diseased or not. Soon Drone Supported Algorithm will also be made for this. This method is based on such an algorithm, which can be used by anyone after installation on a computer and camera.
