Big boost: Shimla gets Rs 64.90 crore for speedy horticulture development
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh’s capital, Shimla, is set to witness several changes in its horticulture sector because Rs 64.90 crore has been allocated to the district for the speedy growth of the horticulture. The programme will take place under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture for the financial year 2025-26. The plan got the sanction during a District Mission Committee meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap. Several senior officials from the department were also present on this occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Kashyap said that horticulture plays a vital role in the income of most families in Shimla. He emphasized that the government’s beneficial scheme should reach the farmers directly so that they can boost their incomes. He urged the department that all the schemes must be implemented with immediate effect.

He also focused on the significance of research and training. He said that modern techniques are the only way of increasing crop quality and quantity in farming. He inspired the department to take some concrete steps that will encourage farmers to adopt such new methods to increase their yield and incomes. He called for a uniform system across all blocks of the district so that schemes do not remain limited to a few areas.
