Bihar launches ‘Gamla Yojana’ to boost roof top gardening

Patna: Horticulture is an important sector. Therefore, both central and state governments are giving full attention to boosting this sector because it fetches more income to farmers. The Bihar government is not behind in pushing the horticulture in the state. In recent time, several new schemes have been launched for the better yields of this sector. The Nitish government has started the ‘Gamla Yojana’ (Pot Scheme) under the Roof Gardening Scheme 2024-25.

Horticulture farmers will get a subsidy of around Rs 7,500 for the setting up of pots for gardening. The scheme is prepared for those who have empty rooftop space and want to do gardening but are not able to come forward owing to a dearth of funds. As per the statement, the Gamla Yojana will help horticulture farmers living in urban areas like Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, and so on.

The state government has been trying to encourage people to come ahead and take part in the horticulture sector, giving farmers a chance to grow fresh vegetables and fruits in their limited space.

Farmers don’t need to run from the pillar to post to avail of this scheme. Interested people have to apply online on the official website of the Bihar Directorate of Horticulture, Agriculture Department. If anyone wants to get additional information, then they should visit their nearest agriculture department office and apply for the scheme.
