Bihar launches Sabji Vikas Yojana to boost farmers’ income

Patna: The Nitish government in Bihar has been taking a keen interest in boosting the vegetable production in the state. Therefore, encouragements have been given to the farmers to switch to the horticulture sector and improve their economic conditions as well. The state government, through the Directorate of Horticulture under the Agriculture Department, has introduced the Sabji Vikas Yojana, aiming to grow bumper vegetables in the state.

This scheme is set to provide financial assistance of up to 75 percent to farmers, helping them to adopt modern techniques and get better resources for increasing production. Besides this, hybrid saplings of vegetables such as brinjal, watermelon, and muskmelon are to be provided to farmers with a subsidy of about 75%. Seeds for numerous crops like pumpkin, ridge gourd, bitter gourd, okra, and chili are to be given to farmers at a subsidy rate of 75 percent per hectare.

Interested farmers can avail themselves of the government’s lucrative scheme. They can apply through the official website of the Directorate of Horticulture, Agriculture Department, Bihar. To get more details about the scheme, they can visit the office of the Assistant Director of Horticulture in their district.

This initiative by the Bihar government is expected to provide a lot of support to the farmers. They can get quality saplings as well as seeds, which will definitely increase their production and income too. The Horticulture Department has been inspiring farmers to take advantage of this scheme and become self-reliant.
