BMC Park Department’s Floral Initiative Bougainvillea to Adorn Mumbai Flyover

Mumbai: In a bid to enhance Mumbai’s urban landscape and promote environmental consciousness, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Park Department has unveiled a novel initiative. Bougainvillea, the vibrant and hardy flowering plant, is set to cascade along a prominent flyover in the bustling city.

The initiative aims to transform the concrete structure into a picturesque haven, adding a splash of color and natural beauty to the urban sprawl. Bougainvillea, known for its resilience and striking hues, is an ideal choice for such an endeavor, requiring minimal maintenance while offering maximum visual impact.

Under the visionary leadership of Commissioner and Administrator Dr Iqbal Singh Chahal and Additional Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Ashwini Bhide, the Parks Department has undertaken the task of adorning 20 flyovers across various routes in Mumbai with vibrant bougainvillea blooms

Speaking about the initiative, BMC officials highlighted the dual benefits of the project. Not only does it contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the city, but it also aligns with BMC’s commitment to sustainable development and green initiatives. The project underscores the importance of integrating nature into urban spaces, creating environments that are not only visually appealing but also conducive to well-being.

Residents and commuters alike have expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, welcoming the prospect of a more vibrant and green cityscape. As the Bougainvillea begins to bloom, the Mumbai flyover is poised to become a symbol of the city’s commitment to environmental stewardship and beautification efforts.
