Boost horticulture: 50% subsidy for mushroom and polyhouse farming
Lucknow: With the announcement of the new subsidy scheme by the UP government, smiles have come on the faces of farmers. Small and marginal farmers in districts like Meerut, Hapur, Noida, Ghaziabad, Baghpat, and Bulandshahr will get an opportunity to start mushroom cultivation and set up polyhouses for modern farming. Earlier, only big farmers used to avail themselves of the benefits of the scheme. Now, small-scale farmers will get a 50 percent subsidy.
If a farmer wants to begin mushroom cultivation and he is ready to invest 2 lakh, then, in this situation, the state government will give a subsidy of Rs one lakh. The same facility will be available for setting up polyhouses. This initiative is expected to promote modern agricultural techniques, which will help farmers to boost their productivity and incomes as well.

Those farmers who don’t have the experience of mushroom cultivation or polyhouse farming can get training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agricultural University in Meerut or any Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Agricultural Science Centers).
The farmers have got the facilities to handle challenges now; it is their duty to grow crops efficiently with the help of modern techniques and boost productivity along with their livelihood and make the region economically sound as well.
It is essential for farmers to contact the horticulture department of their district. After getting the application form, they have to fill it out sensibly and mention all the details correctly. This venture will promote horticulture in the state and help farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices for better earnings.
