Buyer-seller meet takes place in Jammu for flower growers’ welfare
Jammu: Buyer-Seller Meet 2024-25 was organized by the Agriculture Department and Farmers Welfare, Jammu, for the welfare of flower cultivators at Baba Jitto, Kisan Kendra, Talab Tillo. The event was held as part of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), aiming to connect buyers, sellers, and flower growers so that floriculture can be promoted in the region. The valley has the potential to accelerate floral expansion.
Chief guest Rahul Yadav, Mission Director of HADP/JKCIP, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The programme was presided over by the Director of Agriculture Jammu, S. Arvinder Singh Reen.

S. Reen, in his address, underscored the significance of floriculture and its role in improving agricultural development in Jammu. He talked about the expansion of the floriculture sector under HADP and stressed the setting up of modern infrastructure such as polyhouses, polycarbonate structures, and cold storage units, pack houses, and refrigerated vans so that flowers can be kept fresh for a long time. These facilities will definitely increase the shelf life of their products; quality will improve, and growers can market their production easily.
Dr. Punit Chowdhary, Chief Scientist and Head of KVK Jammu, spoke about the importance of scientific advancements and innovation in floriculture. He urged farmers to adopt modern techniques to improve yield and quality, ensuring a brighter future for the sector.
This initiative will definitely help Jammu’s farmers to develop the quality of floral production, and they can sell their produce at reasonable prices, providing new opportunities to farmers and a thriving horticulture sector in the region.
