Centre set to revolutionize horticulture sector in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Central Government is all set to bring a revolution in the horticulture sector in Telangana, providing financial support for the improvement of vegetable and fruit cultivation. Telangana has been allocated Rs 145 crore for the year 2025-26 under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). Previously, the fund was just 60 crore. The Center and state governments will contribute 60% and 40%, respectively.

The government has been aiming to expand the horticulture cultivation area of vegetables (5,000 acres), mangoes (2,000 acres), oranges (1,000 acres), and cocoa (2,500 acres). Farmers will get subsidies on all crops. The mango cultivation subsidy rate has gone up from Rs 81,581 per acre to ₹2 lakh per acre over three years.

The scheme is to be implemented in several cities like Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, and Warangal. Farmers have been getting encouragement to grow more and more vegetables. The government has assured to provide seeds, plants, and organic fertilizers for the boost of production of fruits and vegetables in the state, along with farmers’ income as well.
