CM Stalin to inaugurate flower show at Semmozhi Poonga

Chennai: Tamil Nadu capital Chennai is set to organize a second flower show to be started from January 2, 2025. It would be inaugurated by Chief Minister MK Stalin at the Semmozhi Poonga botanical garden. A huge number of crowds is likely to visit the show and enjoy the varieties of flowers. It is expected that the Department of Horticulture of Ooty and Kodaikanal will bring above 30 lakh potted plants and flowers, and Krishnagiri and Hosur are set to supply different kinds of roses.

The Semmozhi Poonga is spread over eight acres of land. Currently, the parks have more than 800 species of rare plants that are carefully maintained throughout the entire year. The botanical garden was inaugurated by former chief minister M. Karunanidhi in 2010.

The state government has decided to display more exotic plants and flowers, seeing the enthusiasm of visitors in the previous year’s ‘flower show.’ This year several rare species, such as pink and red petunias, yellow marigolds, purple, white, and cream delphiniums, zinnias, and other exotic flowers will be displayed to bring awareness among the visitors regarding plants and flowers.

Visitors will have to pay Rs 150, and children’s entry fees are Rs 75. Those who want to carry video and cameras, then they will have to pay Rs 500. Besides the flower show, arrangements have also been made for artistic performances so that the crowd can enjoy the evening. Visitors can enjoy the flourishing show from 10 am to 7 pm every day till January 18.
