Colours and creativity shine at Science City Flower show

Jalandhar: Pushpa Gujral Science City organized its annual flower show on February 14. A huge number of visitors, including nature lovers along with people from all walks of life, turned up to witness some breathtaking fresh flower arrangements, a showcase of dry flowers, rangoli, and an exhibition of potted plants. The event boosted awareness among the visitors to plant flowers and fruits in the vacant places of their respective houses.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Munish Soin, Scientist-D, Science City, stressed the significance of flowers and environmental conservation. He said that the flower show is a wonderful way to call individuals and families to spend their precious time in natural beauty while getting knowledge of floriculture. “The event not only celebrates flowers but also encourages people to appreciate nature and take care of the environment for a better future,” Soin said.

Prizes were distributed among the winners. Anand College, Kapurthala, bagged the first prize in the rangoli competition (college category). Meanwhile, KMV College, Jalandhar, and Guru Nanak Institute of Nursing, Jalandhar, remained in the second and third spots, respectively.

Mahavir Jain School, Jalandhar, won the first position in the school category, while St. Soldier Divine Public School, Kapurthala, secured the second spot, and DAV Model High School bagged third place.

Jasbir Kaur from Kapurthala secured the first prize in the dry flower arrangement competition. However, Vaishnavi from Parvati Jain School, Jalandhar, and students from HPP High School, Kapurthala secured the second and third prizes, respectively.
