Cubbon Park hosts flower show to educate children

Bengaluru: The Department of Horticulture, in collaboration with the Women and Child Development Department, has been organizing a spectacular flower show at Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Cubbon Park in Bengaluru. The event got underway on November 29 and will continue till December 2. It aims to educate children by blending nature with science and technology.

Over one lakh cut flowers and around 20,000 potted plants will be showcased, creating an enchanting atmosphere for visitors. Deputy Director of Horticulture (Lalbagh), G Kusuma, revealed that flowers like chrysanthemums, roses, orchids, and gerberas will be used to craft stunning floral sculptures. “We are creating floral depictions of animals such as elephants, ants, and dinosaurs,” she said. “Special attractions will include floral models of missiles and robots, designed to captivate children.”

The show not only highlights the beauty of flowers but also emphasizes the importance of protecting plants and wildlife. Children will have an opportunity to explore creative floral designs while learning about the latest advancements in science.

The event is estimated to cost Rs 40 lakh, with Rs 26 lakh allocated for the flowers and the rest for building structures and organizing manpower.The flower show promises to be a vibrant blend of education and entertainment, offering families a unique way to spend their weekend amidst nature’s wonders.
