Dedicated to Promoting Self-Reliance in Horticulture: Jagat Singh Negi

The tissue culture laboratory at Dadhol in the Bilaspur district was inspected today by Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi. He stated that the state government would promote horticulture in the Shivalik region to boost farmers’ economies.

The Himachal Pradesh Sub-Tropical Horticulture, Irrigation, and Value Addition (HP SHIVA) project, which aims to increase both the quantity and quality of horticultural produce in the lower districts, would be examined by the state government. The government would encourage scientific methods of horticulture to help people become self-sufficient.

According to the Horticulture Minister, one of the project’s goals was to get young people and women involved in horticulture. The establishment of new orchards in the region would receive all possible assistance from the government, including financial support.

Because citrus fruits are less likely to be attacked by monkeys, they would be encouraged to be grown. This region’s climate was superior to that of many other nations, allowing it to produce citrus fruits of higher quality. He added that farmers would be asked to make the most of cluster tanks, solar water pumps, and drip irrigation systems to keep their orchards moist.

Additionally present were Ghumarwin MLA Rajesh Dharmani, SHIVA Project Director Devender Gupta, Mala Sharma, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, and Project Coordinator Dr. Raman Angaria.
