Delhi CM unveils fresh strategy to mitigate pollution
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled a new plan to mitigate the city’s pollution. The BJP slammed the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government last year over increasing pollution levels in winter. The present government of the BJP is still criticizing the AAP government, failing to make concrete policy to reduce pollution. She said that her government has been planning to bring more electric buses (EVs) on the roads. “Our goal is to fetch 5,500 EV buses by the end of 2025 and over 11,000 by 2026,” she said.
The total number of charging stations will rise to 48,000 due to the participation of the private sector. The present government is set to inspire people to adopt EVs, and stricter rules are likely to be implemented against vehicles older than 15 years. Vehicles coming from outstations will be tracked through above 5,000 cameras with an aim to reduce pollution levels in the national capital.
