Delhi govt to implement 21-point ‘Winter Action Plan’ to combat air pollution: Minister
New Delhi: The Environment Minister of Delhi recently announced that the government is mulling to implement a 21-point ‘Winter Action Plan’ to overcome air pollution. The government is planning to use drones to monitor pollution hotspots in real-time, and the creation of a special task force is also on the cards to deal with the worsening air quality during the upcoming winter session.
Talking to media persons following a high-level meeting with top officials from 35 departments, Gopal Rai stressed that the Delhi government will take all essential steps this year to combat pollution this winter. He went on to say that drones will be used to monitor pollution at major hotspots across the national capital. These actions are part of our 21-point plan, which will provide a cleaner and pollution-free atmosphere to Delhiites, the minister said.

The winter action plan will cover several issues like pollution from vehicles, dust, stubble burning, and industrial emissions. Specific tasks have been given to all departments, and they were asked to submit their action plan by September 12. The government is also planning to implement the odd-even vehicle scheme once again, and artificial rain is also on the agenda of the government to reduce pollution in winter.
The government is adamant to upgrade its Green War Room and Green Delhi App, used to monitor pollution in real-time and allow citizens to report pollution-related issues.
Furthermore, the minister also emphasized that collaboration will be needed from the neighbouring states and the Central agencies to overcome cross-border pollution problems, specially stubble burning from Punjab.
