Delhi lifts pollution curbs amid improvement in air quality
New Delhi: Delhi’s air quality improved due to adequate weather and a reasonable spell of wind. It has reached the ‘moderate’ category. Seeing the improvement, the authorities on Monday evening have decided to withdraw Stage I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP I). The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and adjoining areas lifted the curbs. GRAP Stage 1 had been imposed in the national capital from October 15, 2024.
The air quality in the city remains around 156-190 for the fourth successive day, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data; the Commission cited the ‘downward trend’ in its order on Monday. It stated that all the concerned authorities will have to take appropriate actions against the spread of dust due to construction and demolition activities and roads/open areas, which would become a main factor for making the air quality poor in Delhi-NCR.

With the improvement of air quality in the city, people have got a sigh of relief after a long time. Earlier, Delhiites had to face several kinds of pollution-related diseases, especially respiratory and lung infections. Children and senior citizens were on the receiving end. A long queue could be seen before the hospital. The situation has been getting better.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast winds up to 30 km/h will flow till Wednesday, which is likely to improve the air quality further.
