Delhi’s air quality plunges to ‘poor’ category; AQI remains at 235

New Delhi: Delhiites have to feel the heat of poor air quality again, which has been continuing since September. Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the ‘poor’ category on Wednesday morning for the second consecutive day. As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI of the national capital was 235 at 8 am on March 26. Seeing the gravity of the situation, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) decided to invoke Stage I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR on Monday after the deterioration of the city’s air quality.

Several measures will be strictly followed after the implementation of GRAP-1. Construction sites need to control dust. Pollution control authorities have urged residents to obey GRAP-1 guidelines like keeping vehicle engines well-tuned, checking tyre’s pressure on a regular basis, and enhancing checking of the pollution certificates of vehicles. Keep control of vehicular emissions.
