Delhi’s tulip festival 2025 gets under way at Shanti Path

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and Netherlands Ambassador H.E. Marisa Gerards inaugurated the 2025 tulip festival at Shanti Path, Chanakyapuri, in Delhi on Tuesday, and it will continue up to February 23. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has been organizing this event, featuring a tulip walk where visitors from all walks of life have an opportunity to witness different species of tulip from different regions.

The LG and the Netherlands representative sowed a tulip plant named “Maitri.” It is a Hindi word meaning friendship, signifying a strong relationship between the two countries. Most of the tulip plants have been bought from the Netherlands. “Among the planted tulips, about 15,000 have been produced in Himachal Pradesh’s Palampur.

Overall, 1.46 lakh tulips out of 3.25 have been planted alone at Shanti Path. The remaining bulbs have been sown in 20 parks of the national capital maintained by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Meanwhile, a huge number of tulips were developed in Himachal Pradesh’s Palanpur. It means tulips can be grown in the country in large quantity to reduce dependence on other nations.

Speaking on this occasion, Saxena expressed his vision to reduce tulip imports within the next four years and continue such efforts to make Delhi more beautiful.

Flower lovers have exciting news: they can purchase tulips at several places, such as Shanti Path Lawn, Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden, Central Park, and NDMC nurseries.
