Delhi’s Yamuna surroundings change into flourishing flower fields: LG
New Delhi: Delhi’s LG Vinai Saxena has made it clear that Yamuna floodplains, known for pollution, have undergone a remarkable transformation. He shared the blooming image of orange and marigold flowers. In a post on X, Mr. Saxena expressed his delight, saying, “This stretch of Yamuna floodplains that used to be a garbage dump just a year ago has been transformed by DDA into vibrant fields of pot marigolds, redefining the landscape of Delhi and reviving the Yamuna floodplains into breathable public green spaces.” He compared the flower fields at Yamuna Vatika to the stunning sunflower fields in Tuscany and the lavender fields in Provence, France.

Yamuna’s filthy water played a key role in the recently concluded Delhi assembly elections. The BJP emerged victorious, unseating AAP with a landslide victory. The saffron party had promised in its pre-poll agenda to improve the condition of the Yamuna. Newly-elected Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently performed an aarti at Vasudev Ghat, which was developed in the traditional Charbagh style.
The newly elected government has been trying to improve the conditions of the Yamuna floodplains to make the river’s surroundings beautiful. Two green spaces, Asita East and Baansera, were also developed near Sarai Kale Khan the previous year. Officials say these efforts reflect a strong commitment to urban renewal and environmental conservation in the national capital.
